The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) expects reduced rainfall across upper regions on September 30, though southern coastal areas remain under watch for localized downpours.
A weakening southwesterly monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is bringing a brief respite to upper Thailand. According to the TMD’s 24-hour weather outlook—effective from 6:00 AM on September 30 through 6:00 AM on October 1, 2026—scattered thunderstorms will affect roughly 30% of upper regions, while southern provinces face more intense storm activity.
While conditions are moderating up north, residents in southern Thailand are advised to stay vigilant against potential flash flooding and severe runoff triggered by heavy accumulated rainfall.
Regional Weather Breakdown (Sept 30 – Oct 1)
- Bangkok & Vicinity: Expect isolated thunderstorms covering about 30% of the metropolitan area. Temperatures will range between 25°C and 35°C, accompanied by light southerly winds (10–20 km/h).
- Northern Region: Thunderstorms are slated for 30% of the area, primarily impacting Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Tak, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Highs will reach 31–35°C with lows down to 22°C.
- Northeastern Region: Rainfall coverage stands at 30%, concentrated mainly in Loei, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani. Highs could reach 36°C.
- Central Region: A 30% chance of rain is expected across Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Sakhon, and Samut Songkhram, with temperatures peaking around 35°C.
- Eastern Region: Scattered storms will hit 30% of the area, including Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Coastal winds may reach 15–30 km/h, producing waves around 1 meter that could surge beyond 2 meters during squalls.
